The Salvation Army of El Paso has many different volunteer opportunities! Whether you’re volunteering to give back to your community, help those in need or just looking to get some community service hours, the Salvation Army has an opportunity for you!

Family Shelter Opportunities: The family shelter is the Salvation Army’s shelter for the homeless. The shelter helps families and individuals who have recently lost their home get shelter until they can get a new housing situation. Many times families become homeless because of a temporary situation, like job loss or medical issues, and keeping their kids and family off the street even for a couple days can make all the difference! At the shelter there are many opportunities ranging from serving food to helping paint the walls. There are even creative opportunities like decorating the rooms! Just tell us what your interests and skills are and and if there’s an opportunity to fit, we’ll find it for you!

The Salvation Army Thrift Store: The Thrift store, located on the Northeast, is one of the biggest revenue streams for the Salvation Army of El Paso’s local services and operations. The Thrift store collects gently used donations from around the city and sells the second hand items in the Thrift store, and 100% of the money it raises stays in El Paso to fund our local programs. There are many opportunities at the Thrift store like sorting donations or building maintenance!

The Citadel/Church: Most people don’t know it, but the Salvation Army is primarily a church! The Salvation Army has always understood that people need more than food and shelter, especially when they’re in a really low point in their life. The Citadel is the local Salvation Army church and it offers services and prayer to anyone in the community in need. There are many opportunities at the Citadel like volunteering to help or coordinate special events!
